Taormina
It all began one quiet summer night on the terrace of Villa Cuseni in Taormina, in Sicily. It was late and I sat outside, looking at the bay and the twinkling town below, while Mount Etna glowed in the distance, gently spewing lava into the sky. There was something intangible in the air, an invisible, magnetic force that would not let me simply walk away. I kept thinking that this place feels alive.
I stayed on the terrace late into the night, unwilling to sleep through a moment so full of presence. Surrounded by the villa’s gardens, I began picking up scents on the breeze: jasmine drifting softly, not heavy or heady, but fresh and velvety, almost luminous. It was intense, yet gentle enough to let me fully take in the energy of the place.
I began sketching a fragrance in the dark, first called Sicilian Jasmine Rain. I imagined other notes too: roses, orange blossoms, perhaps just figments of my dreamy state; geraniums and herbs cooling in their terracotta pots near the kitchen. The summer air was warm, the sea breeze not salty, but floral and exotic—as if inviting me to travel beyond this small Sicilian town.
The next morning, I toured the villa with its owner and discovered that this home was in fact a living museum - steeped in history, art, and passion. For decades, it welcomed world-renowned artists who came here to create. No wonder I could barely close an eye, every breath on that terrace was steeped in creative energy.
I was gifted a book about the garden’s flora and was lucky enough to smell a rare red rose, unique to Italy’s Great Gardens, in full bloom. That scent became the final note in my composition.
This perfume is my tribute to that magical evening on the terrace of Villa Cuseni, a place where art, nature, and inspiration breathe as one. It’s a fragrance for those who long to live more fully, more passionately, and to express their unique art with every breath.
