Secret Prague

I have been composing the formula of my perfume of Prague for a long time…

My hometown, so close to my heart, yet the most elusive to capture in a scent. It felt like no composition ever held the energy of this city until I understood that what I longed to express was not the Prague of today, but the invisible, enigmatic Prague. The ancient, untouchable spirit - the genius loci - that whispers through cobble-stone streets, during walks by the river, reaching you from hidden corners.

The inspiration came one night after a deep conversation with dear friends who share a passion for mystic traditions, hermetism, and texts that reach back thousands of years.

I was carried back to my student years in Paris, when my professor at the Sorbonne Nouvelle, and the most renowned French Shakespearean scholar, suggested that for my thesis I explore the ties between the courts of Queen Elizabeth I’s in England, and Prague, the seat of the Roman Emperor Rudolf II., whose court became a gathering place for alchemists, visionaries, philosophers, and artists - a time when imagination and mystery reigned, when the city shimmered with unseen forces.

The perfume that emerged is not the Prague of the present, but that of the hidden, eternal Prague.

At its heart rest sacred frankincense and the golden breath of immortelle. Around them flow deep woods of sandalwood and delicate, flowery rosewood, warmed by amber’s quiet glow. Palo santo and copaiba lend a modern vibration, while linden blossom essence - Prague’s eternal guardian - bridges centuries, blooming anew each year.

The result is an intense, resinous-woody composition, softly sweet, gently spiced. A fragrance that feels like stepping back into the mystical air of the High Renaissance and Mannerism - a time when Prague itself seemed to reach beyond earthly limits, touching the invisible beauty that still lingers in its soul.

A stepping stone to other realities, as its name conveys, this is the soul of Secret Prague.
